Hi there!
Though "ch" sounds "che", the name of the letter is actually "ce hache". The same happens with the "v", which is pronounced "ve" but its name is "uve". As far as "w" is concerned, for Spanish speakers is not a double u but a double v ("uve doble").
A very good way to learn a language is by listening to music and singing. Here there's a good site to listen to songs in Spanish:
http://formespa.rediris.es/canciones/index.html
It is actually for teachers of Spanish, but if you click on the PDF icon below each singer & song you can get the lyrics, and next to the PDF icon there's a videotape icon to listen to the song. Hope you like it!

Oh, and I also have a blog on Spanish slang: http://elcallejerocanela.blogspot.com
Bye!

Hi Don,
Thanks for your input. Yes there are many variances between Latin American Spanish and Castilian Spanish in the way certain words and letters are pronounced.
I'm sure other people will find what you wrote useful.
