In the previous pages I demonstrated how to count in Spanish from zero to thirty. Here we will continue with the rest of the numbers up to 100 and beyond.
NOTE: If you are looking for the numbers 1-15 jump over to my numbers in Spanish page. And numbers 16-29 can be found on my counting in Spanish page.
Here we will continue with the number thirty. Instead of listing every single number I will give you the essentials, because as you can see now, there is a pattern forming. If you know how to count in Spanish from 1-10, you are on the right track. I have also shown you how the numbers are formed by displaying the combination of the number 20 (veinte), the y (and) and the corresponding number.
Now we will do the same for the rest of the numbers starting with 30 up to 99. If you need to reference some of the numbers to make the proper Spanish pronunciation combinations, remember you can refer back to the numbers in Spanish page, and the counting in Spanish page.
| Number | Spelling | Pronunciation | Audio |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 | treinta | tray-eenta | |
| 31 | treinta y uno | tray-eenta ee oo-noh | |
| 40 | cuarenta | kwar-entah | |
| 42 | cuarenta y dos | kwar-entah ee dohs | |
| 50 | cincuenta | seen-kwen-tah | |
| 53 | cincuenta y tres | seen-kwen-tah ee trays | |
| 60 | sesenta | ses-enta | |
| 64 | sesenta y cuatro | ses-enta ee kwah-troh | |
| 70 | setenta | seh-ten-tah | |
| 75 | setenta y cinco | seh-ten-tah ee seen-koh | |
| 80 | ochenta | oh-chen-tah | |
| 86 | ochenta y seis | oh-chen-tah ee sayees | |
| 90 | noventa | noh-bhen-tah | |
| 97 | noventa y siete | noh-bhen-tah ee see-ay-teh | |
| 98 | noventa y ocho | noh-bhen-tah ee oh-choh | |
| 99 | noventa y nueve | noh-bhen-tah ee nway-bay |
NOTE: Did you notice that in the numbers 31-99 the y remains and is not changed to an i?
Now that you know how to count in Spanish up to 99, you will definitely see how the pattern works.
For numbers above 100 all you do is add the "century" number to the front of the corresponding number. For example, 200 is doscientos, 201 is doescientos uno. I have added more below. I did not include the audio or pronunciation in these as you already have all the audio files to help you along, plus you can also refer to my Spanish pronunciation page if you have any doubts about how to pronounce certain words.
| Number | Spelling |
|---|---|
| 100 | ciento (cien) |
| 101 | ciento uno |
| 102 | ciento dos |
| 11 | ciento once |
| 116 | ciento dieciséis |
| 165 | ciento sesenta y cuatro |
| 199 | ciento noventa y nueve |
| 200 | doscientos |
| 204 | doscientos cuatro |
| 300 | trescientos |
| 400 | cuatrocientos |
| 500 | quinientos |
| 600 | seiscientos |
| 700 | setecientos |
| 800 | ochocientos |
| 900 | novecientos |
NOTE: Notice that 100 is simply ciento or cien (ciento is used more often) whereas from 200 - 900 have the 2,3,4 (dos, tres, cuatro...) and so on added to the beginning. They also take the plural form with a s added on to denote more than 100 and so on.
There is also a slight change with 500, 700 and 900. See if you can spot the difference.
The comma is used instead of a period or full stop.
